This wine was made from the region's traditional grape varieties, predominantly Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, and Alfrocheiro, sourced from some of Borba's oldest vineyards. It was aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels, partly in French oak barrels, and then aged in the bottle in a dark cellar.
