The Old & Rare collection in our store is constantly evolving, with new and exciting products being added regularly. Be sure to check back often, as this category features wines that are not typically found in most wine retailers. For those who seek out unique or exceptionally rare wines, the selection is extensive. Our aim is to offer wines that will continue to improve with age, reaching their peak when the right moment arrives to open that special bottle. To ensure this, carefully consider factors like the region, grape varieties, and, above all, the producer.
Today, we’d like to showcase some exceptional new red wines added to this exclusive section of our website, sourced from some of the finest wine producers in the country. First up is the Chryseia from Prats & Symington. Chryseia made history as the first Portuguese non-fortified wine to appear on Wine Spectator’s prestigious Top 100 Wines list and has since been featured three times. Prats & Symington wines are crafted at the renowned Quinta de Roriz, one of the Douro Valley’s most exceptional estates. This historic vineyard, dating back to 1565, has long been celebrated for the outstanding quality of its wines.
The Raríssimo wines perfectly embody the essence of this category. Created by Osvaldo Amado, a distinguished Portuguese winemaker with nearly 40 years and countless awards to his name, these wines are crafted with artistry and rarity in mind. Produced in limited editions, Raríssimo wines stand out for their originality and uniqueness. We currently have available amazing editions from Dão and Bairrada, so don’t miss the chance to experience them.
If you’re not yet familiar with Buçaco wines, now is the perfect time to discover them. The story of Buçaco began in the early 19th century, with the launch of a wine that would go on to become an icon, always maintaining an air of mystery. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, revolutionized Portuguese wine by combining luxury hospitality with winemaking, creating the rare and historic Buçaco wines. Produced at the stunning Palácio do Bussaco, nestled in the hills north of Coimbra, these wines have avoided modern trends and are known for their exceptional aging potential—remaining in perfect condition for decades when properly cellared.
In addition, we have the Villa Oeiras Bugio 1924 Pharoes Colheita and Casa da Passarella Vinha Centenária Pai D'Aviz, both of which have been recognized as some of the best wines of the year by Revista dos Vinhos. And don’t forget about the limited remaining bottles of Cortes de Cima Homenagem a Hans Christian Andersen, Cortes de Cima Pinot Noir, D'Avillez Garrafeira Red, and Mouchão Red. These sought-after wines are available only while stocks last—so act fast!
