Product details
The Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges is celebrating its 140th anniversary. The commemorative wine presented to emphasise the date is the result of an archive of Touriga Nacional wines from the Dão (Quinta de São Simão da Aguieira) and Douro (Quinta da Soalheira) estates owned by the company. A selection made by winemaker Fábio Maravilha chose a total of eight barrels - four from the Dão, the others from the Douro - from which a blend was made that combines percentages from different vintages: 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Total destemming of the grapes. Brief pre-fermentation maceration followed by fermentation in tanning for 6-8 days at a controlled temperature of 26-28ºC with relatively frequent pumping over. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine was separated from the masses with which it fermented and malolactic fermentation took place. All the wine was aged in 225 and 300 litre French oak barrels for an average of 18 months. Each barrel that makes up the wine was intentionally selected for each unique characteristic of the grape variety and the year.

Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby colour. Very intense and youthful aroma, combined with a seductive aromatic profile. Delicious notes of bright fruit stand out, surrounded by hints of homemade red fruit jam, subtly combined with a delicious aroma of vanilla and spices. The palate is powerful, intense but delicate. It reveals well-present tannins with perfect acidity, making for an unrivalled blend, rich, complete, with excellent volume. The finish is long, elegant and enveloping, with surprising longevity and ageing potential.

Disclaimer:
The photo shown is a copy of one of the bottles we have available for delivery. Keep in mind that the older the wine, the more likely the bottle will have some external dirt or slightly damaged labels. This does not mean, however, that the wine is not in a condition to be consumed.
The wines from our rarity zone are stored and air-conditioned in the most correct way so that the wine ages correctly in the bottle, but over time, the wine evolves and changes its characteristics.
We recommend that you carefully remove the cork and let the wine air for some time in order to release its natural aromas. Avoid decanting as it can be a very aggressive operation for old wines.
