Top rosé wines you really need to know

Portugal has come a long way when it comes to rosés. If a few years ago these were wines without any prestige, today consumers in general are starting to give them their attention, and there's a reason for that: the enormous quality of our rosés.

Today we find top-of-the-range rosés in the portfolio of several Portuguese producers, something that was unthinkable a few years ago. These are almost always barrel-fermented rosés, using exclusive grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional or Syrah, and they take us away from the current image of the terrace rosé. This distancing is, moreover, the great challenge facing producers. It's still not easy to create and transfer to the consumer an idea of luxury and refinement in a product like rosé wine. But here are some suggestions...

We couldn't fail to suggest the fantastic Principal Pinot Noir Tête de Cuvée. A Pinot Noir with a serious nose, with notes of phosphorus and wood. Always with an austere profile. With aeration it shows vegetal notes (asparagus), raspberry and a perception of freshness. Fresh mouthfeel, great complexity and a sense of the grape variety with woodland notes, finishes dry and with a lot of grip.

Made from the Tinta Roriz grape variety, planted at an altitude of between 400 and 500 metres, cement winemaking forms Taboadella Caementa Rosé into a less intrusive version, allowing for greater aromatic clarity and physical persistence without interfering with fermentation kinetics, which emphasises the genuine character of the Tinta Roriz grape variety and highlights the expression of Taboadella's unique terroir. It's on discount on our website (-18%), not to be missed!

These and the other wines you'll find in our selection today are proof of the quality of the rosés made here, and an excellent opportunity to put your preconceptions to one side and let yourself be carried away by the marvellous pink world.
