Winemaking:
It is vinified at Adega da Quinta da Leda, from grapes from that same farm and from vineyards on our properties in high areas, in the Douro Superior. After de-stemming, the grapes are sent to stainless steel vats, where alcoholic fermentation takes place. A long, gentle maceration is carried out, at a controlled temperature, with the aim of extracting the compounds that contribute to the color, aroma, flavor and longevity of this wine. Aging in French oak barrels for a period of around 18 months. The final batch is prepared based on the careful selection of the best wines, resulting from numerous tastings and analyzes carried out during this period of the different batches and existing barrels. In this selection lies the “secret” of Barca Velha. In order to preserve the highest quality, it is only subjected to filtration before bottling.

Disclaimer:
The photo shown is a copy of one of the bottles we have available for delivery. Keep in mind that the older the wine, the more likely the bottle will have some external dirt or slightly damaged labels. This does not mean, however, that the wine is not in a condition to be consumed.
The wines from our rarity zone are stored and air-conditioned in the most correct way so that the wine ages correctly in the bottle, but over time, the wine evolves and changes its characteristics.
We recommend that you carefully remove the cork and let the wine air for some time in order to release its natural aromas. Avoid decanting as it can be a very aggressive operation for old wines.
