Reds of 2015: 10 years of ageing well

It seems like yesterday, but 10 years have passed! To understand the profile of these 2015 reds, it's essential to first understand what 2015 was like, meteorologically speaking. Records show that 2015 in mainland Portugal was extremely dry and very hot, making it the seventh hottest year since 1931 and the second hottest since 2000. Even so, the harvest reports show very balanced ripening and less water stress than other years, as there was rain at the ‘right times’. It's no surprise then that from the north to the south of the country, production was high and the quality evident.

As a general rule, we're talking about very clean reds with defined fruit, lively acidity and almost all of them still with a few years to go.

In our suggestions today you can find classics such as Barca Velha, Pêra Manca or Hexagon. But you can also see how wines less ‘known’ to the general consumer have aged gracefully. This is the case of Vinhas das Pedras Altas from Casa da Passarella or Único from Quinta do Sobreiró de Cima.

From north to south, you can find in our suggestions today beautiful examples from 2015, real treasures for wine lovers and collectors. The bottle that was missing from your cellar! Happy tasting!
