Antão Vaz is the main white grape variety in Alentejo, as it adapts perfectly to the hot, sunny climate of the plains in this region in southern Portugal.
The profile of the wines it produces varies depending on the ripeness of the grapes at the time of harvest. When harvested earlier, it produces wines with a vibrant aroma and firm acidity. When harvested a little later, they have exuberant aromas, with notes of ripe tropical fruit, tangerine peel and mineral hints. It is almost always associated with barrel ageing, which gives it a high structure and density on the palate.
Widely used in traditional Alentejo blends with Roupeiro and Arinto, today we focus all our attention on single varietals, and we have even made a selection of our favourites.
Antão Vaz da Malhadinha – Vinha da Peceguina 2024 is delicate on the nose, with a very clean and captivating aromatic profile with notes of stone fruit and a slight minerality.
