Algarve wine is a product of excellence that reflects the region's history, culture and identity. The mountainous system, the Algarve's long coastline and the Mediterranean and Atlantic influence of its climate are the characteristics that define the region's wines.
The reds, produced from indigenous grape varieties such as the emblematic Negra Mole and other traditional and international varieties, are mostly the result of a blend of several grape varieties with great complexity and richness. As a rule, they are smooth wines, with an almost sweet, unctuous and alcoholic perception, with little acidity and a soft astringency, which is the result of the high temperatures that characterise the region's climate.
We suggest Villa Alvor Singular Negra Mole, a fantastic example of the region's most representative grape variety, or Despedida, a blend with unbeatable price-quality. Both are 14% off in our shop.
Whites, on the other hand, are usually delicate and smooth, sweet and slightly alcoholic, very fruity and with a slight acidity. A good suggestion are the wines made from Crato Branco, Síria in the rest of the country, such as the beautiful Morgado do Quintão Old Vines, Curtimenta or Ânfora wines. A benchmark producer, recognised several times in specialised competitions.
There's also time to suggest the brand new Monte da Ria. The latest addition to our shop.
