And if yesterday we talked about red wines from the Douro at a reduced price, today it's the turn of the Alentejo.
The Alentejo is a vast and heterogeneous region, with a huge diversity of soils and climate. However, most consumers associate red wines from this region with wines that are always powerful and dense, due to the hot, dry climate that is felt throughout most of the region. However, in recent times, Alentejo producers have tried (with great success) to combine this intensity with the much sought-after freshness and elegance.
Thus, Alentejo wines offer endless pleasure, whites, rosés and reds, full wines with a strong aromatic exuberance, round wines with a unique ability to be drunk early... knowing how to age with distinction.
But today we're concentrating on reds, more precisely those that don't cost more than 10 euros.
From Herdade Paço do Conde comes Encosta do Guadiana Field Blend, aged for 3 months in French oak barrels. Ruby colour, full-bodied, long and persistent finish. Notes of black fruit and spices. Not to be missed!
If you're looking for something different, take a look at Vicentino, produced on the Alentejo coast, which brings with it the freshness of the Atlantic ocean.
Prefer the classics? Then go for Trinca Bolotas, Esporão or Monte Velho. Never fails!
Surprise yourself with the unrivalled quality of the Alentejo at a low price, and good tasting!
