High-altitude red wines

More and more wine lovers are succumbing to the charms of altitude, a particular feature of the terroir that gives wines freshness, acidity, elegance and minerality. These characteristics are increasingly sought after by consumers.

In Portugal, there are several regions that enjoy a privileged altitude, especially in the interior of the country. We highlight the Dão and the sub-region of Serra da Estrela, the micro-terroirs of the Douro, the Alentejo Serra de Portalegre, and of course the Beira interior.

But let's move on to suggestions...

Altas Quintas Reserve, from the Alentejo, has aromas of ripe black fruits, blackberry and black cherry, complex notes of forest, olive and tobacco, toasted oak and spices. Full-bodied, deep, with balanced acidity, silky tannins and a long, vigorous and peppery finish.

Val Moreira Altitude, from the Douro region, produced in an old vineyard at 734 metres, is a wine that has won several international awards: Gold Medal at the Challenge du Vin; Gold Medal at the Berlin Wine Trophy; 93 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine and the Excellence Award in Paixão Pelo Vinho magazine.

Bal da Madre, from the Beira Interior region, is a wine produced ‘between mountains and sky’, which translates the soul of Beira Interior into a wine of pure freshness, vibrant aromas and distinctive character.

If you also follow the global trend of seeking fresh and elegant wines, today's suggestions are perfect for you, don't miss out!
