The Douro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the wildest and most authentic wine regions in the world. It is home to an impressive variety of indigenous grape varieties and many plots of old vines that produce few grapes, but of exceptional quality, which give rise to the best Port and DOC Douro wines.
The production of DOC Douro wines has been growing substantially, which now gives us the fantastic opportunity to find amazing wines at a low price. Today we're going to focus on red wines, specifically those priced at no more than 10 euros: guaranteed quality at a reduced price.
We'll start by suggesting Zom Red, from the Van Zeller Wine Collection, a company that represents a collection of values, ideas, stories and wines. The meeting point between tradition, through the Van Zeller family's know-how in the wine sector, and innovation, with a huge commitment to the differentiation and uniqueness of its wines and presentations.
Also noteworthy is the Irmãos Red, with sublime notes of orange blossom and blackberries. It's a perfect balance between the freshness of the Baixo Corgo area and the warmth of the Touriga Nacional (50%) and Tinta Roriz (50%) grape varieties.
If you're looking for a classic, we suggest Niepoort's Diálogo or Piano Reserve Red. Never fails!
In fact, some of these wines were already part of our site's Recommendations, so if you haven't tried them yet, this is your chance.
