Product details
Once the grapes are harvested, the aim is to preserve the fruit flavours and avoid over-extraction through gentle handling. The grapes are hand-picked, hand-sorted, destemmed and fermented by wild yeasts at temperatures of 20-25°C for 10 days on the skins. At the end of the maceration, the wines are transferred to a combination of new French oak barrels (26%) and old French oak casks. The wines are aged for 18 months before being blended. Each varietal/parcel brings unique attributes to the final blend. Touriga Franca brings richness and black fruits and Tinta Barroca brings vibrancy and red and blue fruits.
