Dão white for less than 8 euros

Dão white for less than 8 euros

One of the Portuguese regions with excellent conditions for producing white wines is undoubtedly the Dão. The reasons for this are varied: cold winters, significant altitude of the vineyards, soil composition, variability of native grape varieties... all conditions that bring freshness to the wines.

And speaking of grape varieties, there is one that is unavoidable in this region: Encruzado! The fame of the Encruzado grape is intertwined with the growing reputation of Dão white wine. And even in entry-level wines you can find beautiful examples, such as Pinha do Ribeiro Santo Encruzado (just 5.88+VAT). This wine has a delicate aroma with notes of lemon, green apple and dried lime blossom. In the mouth we find the same fresh fruit and the typical crunchy minerality in balance with the fresh acidity.

The Encruzado-Malvasia Fina duo (the latter with a more fruity and floral character) is also a classic from the region. Cabeça do Mocho is a fine example for just 5.18 euros + VAT.

In short, the ‘Burgundy of Portugal’, as it is known, produces beautiful white wines at very attractive prices for the consumer. That's our suggestion for today... Get to know more about this fantastic region without having to pay a fortune.
