Product details
Traditional harvest and vinification. The grapes were hand-picked at their optimal point and taken to the winery where they were crushed and vinified in stone lagares (traditional stone troughs) with foot treading. The fermentation process continued until the desired Baumé degree was reached. At this stage, grape brandy was added (fortification), resulting in a fortified wine. In the first months of the year following the harvest, the wines were transported to Vila Nova de Gaia, where they aged in wood for several decades. The age mentioned on the label corresponds to the approximate average age of the different wines in the blend, expressing the character of the wine with respect to the characteristics conferred by aging in cask.

Tasting Notes:
The deep amber colour, with greenish hues, attests to this wine's long aging in centuries-old oak. The initial aromas reveal notes of slightly resinous exotic woods that culminate in a botanical bouquet reminiscent of pennyroyal and other shade-loving herbs. On the palate, it surprises with its endless freshness: notes of tangerine peel, dried apricot, and liquorice insinuate themselves within a core of spicy and dried fruit notes. A slight bitterness, persistent on the finish, enhances the coffee and clove flavours, preparing the palate for further tasting. Silky and with sharp acidity, this is a wine that withstands the test of time, alternating with each sip different hierarchies of its grace and delight.

Disclaimer:
The photo shown is a copy of one of the bottles we have available for delivery. Keep in mind that the older the wine, the more likely the bottle will have some external dirt or slightly damaged labels. This does not mean, however, that the wine is not in a condition to be consumed.
The wines from our rarity zone are stored and air-conditioned in the most correct way so that the wine ages correctly in the bottle, but over time, the wine evolves and changes its characteristics.
We recommend that you carefully remove the cork and let the wine air for some time in order to release its natural aromas. Avoid decanting as it can be a very aggressive operation for old wines.
