Product details
This 50-year old results from a blend of 4 wines from the Verdelho, Boal, and Malvasia grape varieties: 30% of extra dry Verdelho from the 1950s MEF collection. This wine brought elegance, exuberance, and a lot of acidity to the blend; 48% of 1978 Boal, aged in canteiro in Barbeito’s warehouses - this wine had a concentration above average for its age and brought structure and sugar to the blend; 15% of old Malvasia (over 100 years old) exclusively aged in casks, adding structure, acidity and more sugar to the blend; 7% of another very old Malvasia (estimated to have spent 60 years in a cask and another 40 in a demijohn) which diluted the concentration without significantly altering the balance between acidity and sugar. In November 2022, 555 individually numbered units were bottled.
