Product details
The grapes were picked just before they were fully ripe in order to guarantee a high level of acidity. The wine fermented in lagares with 100 per cent stalks, then aged in used (old) barrels and 10 per cent in new French oak barrels. During barrel ageing, the wines that will make up the 5 Year Old blend are identified, from older vintages to younger ones, making the wine richer, more intense and complex. Manual harvesting, fermentation in lagares, ageing in old 550 litre barrels and new French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes:
Moscatel Niepoort 5 years is characterised by its unmistakable nose of muscatel with floral and citrus notes and a complex mouthfeel with notes of nuts, spices and honey. Niepoort's signature is in the mouth: excellent structure, high acidity and a long finish that emphasises its delicate and fresh character. This wine is reminiscent of an Auslese that wakes you up at the end of a big dinner, after tasting several wines and Ports, and wakes you up to start again!
