Vilarissa Valley Garrafeira Red 2017

Douro
93 pts Revista de Vinhos - With a clean, bright appearance and a garnet colour with good intensity, this wine is complex, deep and elegant. Aromas of ripe black fruits, especially blackberries, stand out, in perfect harmony with nuances of spices derived from the wood. On the palate it is full-bodied, with a good balance between black fruit, highly polished tannin and good acidity. In the end, it is long and persistent.

Product details

Winemaking:
The grapes were transported in 20 kg boxes to the winery and immediately cooled in a cold chamber. After cooling, the grapes were selected on the sorting table, followed by partial destemming and crushing in a temperature-controlled mechanical wine press, where skin maceration took place for approximately 24 hours. They were transferred to stainless steel vats where fermentation finished. 95% of the batch was aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, and 5% in vats for 7 months. The 225 L barrels used for the aging are 65% new barrels and 35% new barrels.

Grape Varieties:
Touriga Nacional,Touriga Franca,Tinta Amarela
