The new Chryseia is now available

This is the 24th consecutive harvest of Chryseia. A wine born from the partnership between Bruno Prats (Bordeaux) and Symington (Douro) to combine refinement and sophistication with the traditional profile of the Douro. It was an immediate success and is now an iconic wine in Portugal.

This 2023 edition of Chryseia features a prevalence of Touriga Nacional (72%) in the blend, with only 28% Touriga Franca. It was aged for 15 months in 400L French oak barrels, and some believe it is the best Chryseia ever! This is a great indicator of quality, considering that Chryseia 2011 had already been ranked third in Wine Spectator's Top 100, the highest position ever achieved by a Douro wine.

This 2023 has just scored 95 points in Revista de Vinhos magazine - "The tannin is monumental, due to its sobriety, haughtiness and freshness. The structural finesse is proof of schist and the finish lingers. In Bordeaux style, it will turn the world upside down‘, and 19 points in Vinho Grandes Escolhas - ’Very complex, deep, serene, candid aroma, with forest fruits and smoky notes, spices such as pepper, rockrose resins, dust, Douro soil. On the palate, it is full-bodied, round, with fine acidity and very polished tannins. It is all elegance and smoothness, with a long and subtle finish."

We can only conclude that this is a great wine! It is now available for €74.56 + VAT. Quantities are limited.
