Winemaking:
Malvasia Preta was planted at Quinta das Carvalhas in 2002 with a south-facing exposure. It is characterized by a small, compact bunch, with small berries and thin skin. These characteristics led us to believe that the result would be a fine and elegant wine, but with a strong Douro character. We were right! And to preserve these characteristics, fermentation took place in small stainless steel vats with skin maceration, followed by an 8-month aging in used French oak barrels. The barrels used allow the wine to age well without masking the varietal character of the grape.
