This wine comes from the Catarina and Nenas vineyards, where the 2002 harvest, a late year, took place on 4 September 2002. In June 2003, the wine was aged in a ‘greenhouse’ until it was bottled. Winemaking follows the traditional practices of the region, common to the Moscatel de Setúbal grape variety, which goes through a short fermentation in contact with the skins - fermentation that is then stopped with the addition of the selected brandy. The wine and brandy remain in contact with the skins, macerating, during the following winter. After the wine has been racked and its masses pressed, it goes into oak barrels (with capacities of between 180 and 225 litres), many of which have previously been used for ageing Malt Whisky. It is worth highlighting our system of ageing in special warehouses, known here as ‘estufas’, where there are high and varied natural temperature ranges throughout the year. This ageing system, which is similar to the ‘canteiro’ method used for Madeira fortified wines, combined with the fact that there are no tests carried out throughout the ageing period, results in a gradual concentration of the wines and the formation of very complex and surprising aromas and flavours. This generous Moscatel Roxo from the 2002 harvest is our sixth Moscatel Roxo de Setúbal Superior 20 years old.

Tasting Notes:
Amber colour, golden reflections and hints of green. Sweet aroma of orange, green tea, rose petals, hazelnuts, honey, cinnamon In the mouth lightness and freshness in the sweet notes of the mouth, very long.
Store and Serve Advices:
As an aperitif, served at 14-16ºC. At the end of a meal, served at 16-18ºC.
Food Pairing:
Perfect as an aperitif, to accompany cheeses with intense flavours (e.g. blue), with desserts (great combinations with chocolate), with coffee and after coffee.
