Today marks International Riesling Day, a day dedicated to one of the world’s most fascinating and versatile white grape varieties. Known for its elegance, freshness and extraordinary ability to express the terroir, Riesling has won over wine lovers in various wine-growing regions.
Although traditionally associated with countries such as Germany or Austria, Riesling has also been making its mark in Portugal. Some Portuguese producers have been exploring this grape variety with creativity and sensitivity, producing surprising wines that combine Riesling’s identity with the unique expression of Portuguese terroirs — from the Atlantic freshness of the Lisbon region to the more continental expressions of Beira Interior or the Douro.
To mark this special occasion, we have decided to focus on Rieslings produced in Portugal. It is an excellent opportunity to discover different interpretations of this grape variety and to understand how it adapts to our soils and climates, revealing fresh, aromatic profiles full of character.
We invite you to explore our suggestions and celebrate International Riesling Day with us, discovering some of the Portuguese expressions of this very special grape variety.
