Yesterday we talked about Burgundy's main white grape variety, and today we turn our attention to Bordeaux's main white variety, Sauvignon Blanc.
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most widely grown white grape varieties in the world. Its versatility allows it to produce wines with diverse profiles. New World Sauvignons from countries such as Chile and New Zealand offer distinct and pronounced flavors, while Old World wines from France show the origins of the variety in a more restrained profile.
Portugal also produces excellent examples of Sauvignon Blanc, and, in very general terms, it can be said that those from the north (Douro and Vinho Verde) are more similar to those from the Old World, while those from the south (Lisbon, Setúbal...) are more similar to those from the New World.
Today, we recommend that you explore the 100% Sauvignon Blanc wines produced in Portugal. As a suggestion, we leave you with the emblematic Scala Coeli. A range that results from the best vinifications of each year of less traditional grape varieties in the Alentejo. In 2022, it was Sauvignon Blanc's turn. Unmissable!
We also recommend Quinta de Cidrô (-13%) or Marquês de Lara (-26%), both with additional discounts on our website during the month of August.
