Our liqueur suggestions for your Christmas

Christmas suggestions would never be complete without traditional portuguese liqueurs. And if you are a fan of liqueurs, we have good news: in our Christmas Specials section, you will find a careful selection of over 80 liqueurs, specially chosen for your Christmas.

We must start by talking about Ginja, our country's most emblematic liqueur! The term “ginja” (or “ginjinha”) is used to classify not only the liqueur, but also the fruit from which it is made. The liqueur is obtained by infusing the fermented fruit in alcohol, with water, sugar, and cinnamon. This process results in a sweet drink with a very characteristic aroma and intense flavor. Tradition dictates that it should be drunk from a chocolate cup, which is a delight for those with a sweet tooth.

Another classic in Portugal is bitter almond liqueur, made from almonds that, due to their bitterness, were much less consumed than sweet almonds. In the Algarve region, a perfect way was found to end this waste, and thus the precious nectar that has won over Portugal and beyond was born.

Our selection would not be complete without the classic fruit and herb liqueurs and the unusual pastel de nata liqueur, a 100% portuguese flavor...

Perfect for enjoying at the end of a meal, accompanying typical desserts, or creating memorable family toasts, portuguese liqueurs are always the right choice. Discover our special selection here.
