As has become tradition, at the beginning of each new year we publish the bestselling wines of the previous year. This is not intended to be a qualitative and subjective assessment of the thousands of wines we have in shop, but rather a short list of our members' favorite wines from that period, without segmenting by price and only by type of wine.
Obviously, since this is a quantity analysis, everyday wines always end up at the top of the list.
Starting with our members' favorite reds, the ranking in 2024 remained practically unchanged, with the Vidigal Porta 6 once again being the favorite wine and the Cadão being the second favorite. Confidencial Reserva became our members' third favorite wine.
Special mention goes to the Júlia Florista which, having been launched in 2024, has already reached 13th place among the bestselling reds. And of course, Iron Maiden Darkest Red Eddies Blend, which we launched in June last year and after six months is already one of our member’s favorite, either because of its irreverent image, either because its associated with one of the most iconic heavy metal bands or simply because it's a great wine that deserves special attention.
From the 30 best sellers of 2024, the majority are undoubtedly entry-level reds, but around 30% of the wines are already in the mid-price range and 2 of the wines are even in the premium price range, with the Silk and Spice repeating this short list.
In terms of regions, although the Douro and Alentejo still dominate around half of the list, there is a greater variety and presence of other regions, which clearly demonstrates that in practically every region we find quality reds that, once tasted, become the favorite wines of many of our members.
In total, the 30 best-selling red wines in 2024 represent several hundred thousand bottles consumed, so I'd say that if you haven't tried them yet, it's time you did.
