Notes of fruit confit, delicate aroma, ginja, very well done in style, complex and full of character. Beautiful proof of mouth, more in style than in power, grand final.

The 1968 Colheita Port is a typical Douro blend bottled in 2015 and coming in at 160 grams per liter of residual sugar. It was easily the best of the mini-vertical this issue. True, I tend to be biased in favor of the oldies, but who isn't? This opens with some delicacy, but it is also remarkably viscous in the mid-palate. It fleshes out, demonstrating some concentration of fruit as well as intense aromatics and a long finish, but, most of all, it is always impeccably well balanced. Supple, yet finishing with some intensity, this covers all the bases. Did I mention that it is quite delicious, too? The price is pretty reasonable for the age and quality.
