Product details
The first edition of Quinta das Carvalhas Tawny 80 Years is a unique creation, made from Port wines dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, limited to 695 bottles. Named the Impressionist Edition, it draws inspiration from the analogy between the characteristics of this artistic movement and the extraordinary depth and contrast that centuries of aging in oak casks have achieved in Port wine. A profoundly complex, generous and concentrated Port wine, yet remarkably balanced, the result of a highly precise blending exercise. This unique 80-Year-Old blend is composed of four Port wines (40% Very Old Tawny 19th Century; 30% Colheita 1927; 25% Colheita 1955; 5% Colheita 1975) of enormous singularity and rarity, which bring distinct and complementary characteristics to the blend.
Grape Varieties:
Traditional grape varieties
Tasting Notes:
Deep amber in colour with greenish hues, the aroma is very intense and incredibly complex, with notes of dried fruit, dehydrated orange, spices, exotic wood, and a touch of varnish. On the palate, it is very generous and silky with a profound sweetness, but perfectly balanced by a vibrant acidity. Despite its great concentration and a long, extraordinarily persistent finish, this Port wine excels in its elegance.
Store and Serve Advices:
The bottle should be kept upright, protected from light, and at a cool, constant temperature. The wine benefits from being served slightly chilled, between 12ºC and 16ºC. Ready to drink. No decanting required.

Disclaimer:
The photo shown is a copy of one of the bottles we have available for delivery. Keep in mind that the older the wine, the more likely the bottle will have some external dirt or slightly damaged labels. This does not mean, however, that the wine is not in a condition to be consumed.
The wines from our rarity zone are stored and air-conditioned in the most correct way so that the wine ages correctly in the bottle, but over time, the wine evolves and changes its characteristics.
We recommend that you carefully remove the cork and let the wine air for some time in order to release its natural aromas. Avoid decanting as it can be a very aggressive operation for old wines.
