Croft Quinta da Roêda Vintage Port 2008

Port Wine
93 pts Jamie Goode - Deep purple red with a narrow magenta halo. The nose is filled with powerful and intoxicating aromas of rockrose, eucalyptus and the typical aromas of Mediterranean slopes evolving into a smooth and rich core of raspberry jam. Subtle, fleeting notes of cedar, smoked wood, and coffee provide an added layer of multidimensional complexity. This is a typically Rôeda nose with its exotic, resinous fragrances and opulent fruit. The mouth is characteristically full and round, but firmly supported by solid, well-integrated tannins. The long finish is driven by a vigorous explosion of sumptuous fruit contained by an attractive tannic grip.

Product details

Winemaking:
Quinta da Roêda is one of the best properties in the Douro. The property, located in Pinhão, was acquired by Croft in 1889 and extensively renovated throughout the first half of the 20th century. Roêda's rich, aromatic wines, with their full fruit character, form the basis of Croft's vintage blend and are the cornerstone of the house's style. A vintage Port is a wine of a single harvest of outstanding quality. The wine must be bottled between the second and third year of age, maturing henceforth in bottle.

Grape Varieties:
Tinta Roriz,Touriga Franca,Touriga Nacional
