Product details
A Vintage Port is a wine from a very special year and a particularly favourable harvest. The overripe grapes are harvested by hand. This is followed by partial destemming and crushing in a wine press. Maceration is carried out by foot treading for the first 24 hours, followed by alcoholic fermentation, which is interrupted by fortification (addition of grape brandy) at the time chosen by the winemaker to achieve the desired final sweetness. The fortified wine is aged for 2 years in old oak vats in our warehouses in the Douro Superior. After careful tasting, the final blend is bottled without undergoing any filtration. During ageing in the bottle, a natural deposit will form, so the wine should be decanted before serving.
