Still celebrating International Port Wine Day

Still celebrating International Port Wine Day

On 10 September 1756, the Marquis of Pombal created the oldest demarcated region in the world: the Douro Wine Region. In 2014, 258 years later, 10 September was officially established as International Port Wine Day. It arose from a desire to celebrate Port Wine and share it more and more with consumers, and in an increasingly better way.

To celebrate this day, the Douro and Port Wine Institute organises Port Wine Day every year, an event that brings together Port Wine producers, organises exclusive tastings of rare wines and innovative seminars, and infects the city and all its inhabitants with the spirit of Port Wine.

The celebrations for the 8th edition of Port Wine Day, which will celebrate 265 years of the Douro Demarcated Region, kicked off yesterday, 10th September, and will continue throughout October and November, with very special tastings and events.

At Portugal Vineyards, we couldn't miss out on these celebrations, so today we have made a very special selection of Port wines at a discount: treat yourself to a Vallado 40 Years Old (-10%), a Quinta das Carvalhas Reserve Tawny (-12%) or a Burmester Ruby (18%). Whatever your favourite, don't miss today's selection and celebrate this very special wine with us!
