Quinta da Roêda is one of the best properties in the Douro. The property, located in Pinhão, was acquired by Croft in 1889 and extensively renovated throughout the first half of the 20th century. Roêda's rich, aromatic wines, with their full fruit character, form the basis of Croft's vintage blend and are the cornerstone of the house's style. A vintage Port is a wine of a single harvest of outstanding quality. The wine must be bottled between the second and third year of age, maturing henceforth in bottle.

Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby red core, surrounded by a narrow brick border. The nose shows wonderful warmth and maturity, with a dense molasses core and sweet aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, sultana and dried fig. As it opens in the glass, the wine reveals intricate dimensions of aroma, with a subtle resinous touch of eucalyptus and suggestive notes of cigar box, rose petal and fresh bread. On the palate, the first impression is of a dense, velvety texture and a generous, smooth flavor, elevated on the mid-palate by lively acidity and beautifully integrated polished tannins. The opulent flavors of dark chocolate, maraschino and plum pudding linger on the impressively long finish. This seductive Vintage Port is a wonderfully mature expression of the character of the historic Quinta da Roêda, perfectly ready to drink now.
Store and Serve Advices:
Should be opened two hours before serving and decanted. Serve between 17º and 18º C. Store the bottle on its side, in a cool, dry and dark place.
Food Pairing:
Vintage Ports are after meal drinks. Take them with cheese like Stilton or Gorgonzola. But you can also incorporate them into a meal, combining for instance a Steak au Poivre with a young Vintage.
