Grahams Colheita Port 1997

Port Wine
94 pts Wine Enthusiast - Deep orange-brown centre with a halo of intense copper tones. Aromas of quince jam with hints of vanilla and soft caramel, as well as notes of honey and sultanas. Wood ageing is reflected in the delicate notes of almond and marzipan. In the background, an appealing smoky element is slightly discernible. The intense red fruit flavours, complemented by the cask ageing but full of freshness and vitality, combined with an underlying citric acidity, give the wine balance and elegance. The finish is long and pleasant, with a subtle combination of nuts, tea and tobacco.

Product details

Winemaking:
This wine represents the start of a journey from apprentice to cellar master. It celebrates the in-depth knowledge of the vineyard and the mastery of tasting that are essential requirements for the creation of Graham's exceptional wood-aged Ports. At the time of the 1997 harvest, Graham's current Director of Oenology, Charles Symington, was an apprentice to his father, Peter. Although extraordinary wines were produced that year and bottled as Vintage Port, Peter chose some of the best for prolonged ageing in wood. More than 25 years later, Charles selected the remaining casks for a limited edition.

Grape Varieties:
Traditional grape varieties
