The Adega Cooperativa de Portalegre is located in the noble wine-producing area of Portalegre, in the midst of the Serra de São Mamede. The region is marked by mountain ranges covered with croplands and natural vegetation including trees and shrubs. It has a particular mesoclimate that is ideal for grape growing.
The vineyards are planted in granitic, quartzitic and schistose soils at altitudes as high as 600 metres, giving the finest grapes which, in turn, produce distinctive wines. The Adega Cooperativa de Portalegre produces wines of Geographical Indication-Alentejo or Domination of Origin, namely Portalegre Alentejo D.O., Quinta da Cabaça Alentejo D.O., Conventual Reserve, Conventual and Terras do Baco.
