Tapada do Chaves is located near Portalegre, in the Upper Alentejo. The estate has been producing some of the best Portuguese wines for nearly a century. Tapada do Chaves enjoys exceptional soils that aren't usually seen in the rest of Alentejo. It lies on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede, a granite massif that confers unique qualities to the soil and, ultimately, to its wines.
