As we are near the end of our Summer Fair, it's time to suggest the unmissable Portuguese fortified wines.
Fortified wines are those to which wine spirit is added during the fermentation process, increasing their alcohol content and preserving some of the grapes' natural sugars. This technique, initially developed to improve the preservation of wines during long sea voyages, has given these wines a unique and exciting personality.
Portugal is home to a wide variety of fortified wines, including the inevitable Port and Madeira wines, and it's to these that our suggestion for today is based.
In this exclusive selection you'll find, for example, several 10-year-old Tawnys. Aged in oak for an average of 10 years, these wines display a fascinating combination of the fruity intensity of youth and the woody notes of ageing. Try the Fonseca 10 year old (-22%) or the Quinta da Pacheca 10 year old (-20%).
If, on the other hand, you prefer Vintage Port, you can't miss Quinta do Noval 2016 (-19%) or Dows Senhora da Ribeira 2018 (-19%), two of the most iconic Vintage producers.
For Madeira wine fans, we also have good news! You'll be able to find several Blandy's wines with discounts of up to 26%. Blandy's plays a key role in shaping the Madeira wine industry, preserving ancient ageing techniques passed down from generation to generation. Its fortified wines, produced and bottled exclusively on the island of Madeira, reflect its unique terroir and the island's specific grape varieties, bringing out authenticity and rich heritage in every bottle. Not to be missed!
Fortified wines occupy a prominent place in our country, steeped in history and tradition, arousing many passions around the world. That's why, until the 15th, you can't miss the discounts we have for you at our Summer Fair. If you don't know where to start, take a look at our suggestions today and treat yourself with a beautiful Portuguese wine!
