Founded in 1997 by João Teodósio Matos Barbosa, the company has been growing slowly over the years through products not produced by itself and only in 1999 the first vineyard was planted at Vale de Junco, Esperança, Portalegre.
The wines produced by the Company reached the market in 2005, after a small production in 2004 in the vineyard of Valle de Junco, still without its own wine cellar. Later, after buying a plot of land on the slopes of Serra d'Aire and Candeeiros, the company planted the second vineyard. However, it was possible to complete the construction of two wineries, one in Esperança and another in Rio Maior, which were completed in Summer 2007. The Vale de Junco Winery, inaugurated on July 9, 2007, produces wine from the 2005; that of Porta de Teira, since 2006. Located in a valley of the Sierra de S. Mamede, the land where it was implanted in 2001 has unique characteristics with regard to the soil components and the climate itself of each season of the year. The vineyard is planted in lands protected by the natural park of the Serra de S. Mamede where rock figures have been found that clearly identify the beauty of the Alentejo region that characterizes the place. The Vineyard is all planted in slope, and that varies between the 330 and 385 meters of altitude. The cellar was built in such a way that the wines produced in it were as natural as possible, without the need to use transfer pumps.
