In the list of the 30 best-selling spirits, sour cherry liqueur dominates with 10 brands. Its unique origin, the town of Óbidos, and its production formula make this liqueur very popular with our members.
Also featuring heavily in this list are brandies, with 9 brands present, ranging from marc brandies to old brandies. Some of these spirits have a long history on the Portuguese table, such as Macieira, CFR, Adega Velha or Constantino. For many, the best companion for an espresso is still an old brandy and in 2024 this tradition has not yet been lost.
Another liqueur unique to Portugal is bitter almond, and whether on the rocks or in a cocktail, many of us have tasted the famous Amarguinha, a very versatile liqueur made with almonds from the Algarve. This type of liqueur is a regular on the bestseller list and last year was no exception.
Finally, a special note for artisanal gins, a segment where we have added many products, the result of new projects that have been born in various regions of Portugal, and where they take the traditions of the region and the local botanicals to produce differentiated gins.
